Fisheries
India has vast fisheries resources in form of natural and manmade reservoirs which not only fulfills the domestic demand in the form of different kinds of freshwater and marine water fishes and shell fishes but also contributes considerably in the export sector.
There are many ancillary activities such as net mending boat building , marketing of fishing accessories, aqua feed preparation, antibiotic and aqua drug supplying and many other industries are associated with the fisheries sector.
Fisheries sector requires a large number of technical manpower in form of trained and untrained professionals for:
- Study of the outset, streams and lakes and availability of fish.
- Study water pollution.
- Infections Prevention, freezing and canning.
- Marketing research and preserve marine life.
- Fish breeding farm or fish research Centre.
- Study of fresh water ecosystem including chemical, physical and biological aspects.
Career oppotunities exist with State Govts. respective fishery departments, central agencies like Marine Product Export Development Authority(MPEDA), Fisheries Survey of India(FSI), NABADRD, WHO, etc.
