How to get government job in the field of journalism and library course
With a degree in library science, you can apply for several vacancies in Govt./public sector :-
Government libraries, libraries of ministries and other government departments, national archives and museums, training and R&D centres, Public/ Government libraries, Universities/colleges/schools libraries.
Designations:- Librarian, Deputy/Assistant Librarian, Library Attendant/Assistant, Library and Information Officer, Information Analyst/Assistant/Execute, Documentation Officer
For most of these jobs, advertisements are posted by central recruitment agencies/ State Staff Selection Boards and in some cases concerned organisations advertise their own vacancies in various mediums such as newspapers, official websites, employment news. A written test and an interview are part of selection process, usually.
There are not much govt. job opportunities in journalism. But you can apply for all those jobs for which graduates(any stream) are eligible.
There is one all India Examination for recruitment to the posts of Junior Grade of Indian Information Service which you consider.
PRASAR BHARATI (Broadcasting Corporation of India) appoints personnel for various posts in official news and other channels - Copy Editor, Correspondent, Anchor-cum-Correspondent, News Anchors. These personnel may be appointed on contract basis, project basis, fixed professional fee or any other way.
